DEVELOPMENT OF THE CITÉ DE LA MUSIQUE ET DE LA MER – LVSI

The Cité de l’océan et de la musique project in Lvsi proposes the creation of a new coastal city based on the development of the site’s natural resources. Inspired by the structure and identity of small coastal towns in Quebec, the project develops a singular urban model, closely linked to water, agriculture and ecosystems.

The region is characterized by the omnipresence of water in its many forms – fresh, brackish and salt water, canal networks, lagoons and wetlands. The project draws on this hydrological diversity to structure the landscapes and generate a mosaic of ecological atmospheres. The different types of water thus become the support for public spaces, habitats and natural environments that encourage biodiversity.

The development also incorporates contemporary agricultural spaces for the local production of fruit and vegetables. Over and above their symbolic value, these features contribute to the establishment of a sustainable local economy and the construction of a development model that reconciles urbanization, production and ecology.

By linking landscape, urban planning and natural resource management, the project proposes an exemplary vision for the development of a new coastal city, capable of combining quality of life, territorial identity and ecological transition.
