A20 FREEWAY – GOLD RIBBON 2002
Linking Brive-la-Gaillarde to the north, Souillac on the Dordogne, Cahors on the Lot and Montauban to the south, the A20 freeway crosses the complex relief of the Causses, resulting in cuttings and embankments sometimes exceeding 50m.
Winner of a specific international competition, Signes Paysages proposed a special treatment of the embankments’ modeling and sculpting, combined with plantings that form ‘staples’. These create a resonance between the infrastructure and the landscapes through which it passes.
In November 2002, Signes Paysages was awarded the Ruban d’Or by the French Ministry of Public Works for its earthworks and landscaping work on the A20 motorway.
