BIG “O” – ONE PLANET – ONE OCEAN

The 2012 World Expo chose Yeosu to illustrate the theme of ocean protection. It will take place in a former industrial port at the head of a large bay. In addition to the construction of pavilions, a competition was launched for the redevelopment of the waterfront.

The project is conceived as a vast marine park, the framework of which is a promenade on the water through artificial reefs designed to recreate marine biodiversity around the bay. At the heart of this Big “O” project, near Odongdo Island, on the Exhibition’s main axis leading down from the mountain, will be the marine symbol: the Planète Océan vessel. It’s an aquatic monument designed as a lighthouse to guide people so that they don’t get lost in a future without environmental landmarks.
