CHAMPAGNE PARK

In the second half of the 19th century, the ideas of the hygienist movement were reflected in the design of many urban parks created as part of urban planning projects. The aim was to combine beauty and health, practicality and aesthetics; and the art of gardening, placed on a par with the fine arts, became a complement to architecture.

The restoration of the Parc de Champagne must be integrated into history as a “moment of recognition” for the future Parc de Champagne. This updating of the Parc de Champagne involves a reinterpretation of the “picturesque feeling” that emanates from the Park, which needs to be updated in line with contemporary desires:

Environmental well-being and the idea of the garden associated with the floral paradigm, cultural and artistic events, free leisure and sports activities for a broad population, accessibility for all.
