CHANGBAISHAN VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT
Located in the mountainous province of Jilin, the project is set in the emblematic territory of Mount Changbaishan, a 2,744-meter-high volcano whose caldera is home to the famous Lake Tianchi. A destination renowned in China and South-East Asia for its natural landscapes, thermal springs and local produce, the site boasts significant tourism potential that remains largely unstructured.
The plan proposes to make Chixi a new link between the town and the Massif’s winter sports resorts. The aim is to create a hub capable of welcoming visitors in transit, prolonging their stay and providing a base from which to visit the region’s main tourist attractions.
The site is structured by two distinct landscape entities, separated by the freeway: to the north, three agricultural valleys surrounded by the edges of the protected national forest; to the south, the banks of the river, which today mark the urban boundary and are home to an ancient fabric. The project enhances this geography by organizing a system of public spaces, agricultural landscapes and tourist facilities.
Given the moderate relief, the presence of cultivated land and protected forests, the project favors family and leisure tourism, complementing mountain sports activities, and is part of a sustainable territorial development strategy.
