DOMAINE DE CHAUMONT-SUR-LOIRE
Restoration of the last “landscape park” designed in the 19th century by Achille Duchesne, around the Château de Chaumont, on a promontory overlooking the Loire Valley.
The aim was to restore the spirit of the park, combining rigorous layout with views of the internal areas and the wider landscape. The aim was also to ensure the continuity and renewal of the tree layer, following the disappearance of almost all the ageing conifers. This durability also required major earthworks and drainage work, both to reinforce the hillside overlooking the Loire and to ensure the plants’ healthy growth.
