ÉCOQUARTIER DES ABATTOIRS, DIJON GRAND EST
The Anciens Abattoirs eco-neighborhood is part of a broader territorial rationale than simply the eco-responsible development of an urban sector. It is at once the focal point and the opportunity for urban expansion, but an urban expansion that needs to be contained, because unlike the wooded coastal relief of the west, it has no immediate natural ramparts.
The stakes in this project are mainly twofold – although there are also a number of issues on a smaller scale.
The aim is to create the centrality that this typical suburb lacks, and to design a genuine agro-urban edge.
In other words, we have to reconcile seemingly contradictory, yet extremely complementary conditions:
- where the large scale meets the local ;
- the intersection of natural flows (ecological and hydraulic corridors) and artificial flows (transport) with the conditions of a calmed urbanity: squares, gardens, housing, centrality.
To be coherent, scales need to feed off each other.
