REDEVELOPMENT OF PLACE STALINGRAD – BORDEAUX

At the head of the Pont de Pierre over the Garonne and an emblematic threshold on the right bank, Place Stalingrad bears a strong heritage identity (UNESCO) and that of a large-scale multimodal interchange, combining the Bordeaux tramway, city buses, regional coaches, bicycles and pedestrians. Arid and overcrowded, the square needs to free up its space, ambitiously desilt its soil (only 0.8% of its surface is permeable today), and make a welcoming and fresh atmosphere the structuring duo of its redevelopment.

The project involves the complete redevelopment of the square and adjoining streets and avenues: Quai Deschamps and Quai des Queyries. The project involves the removal of waterproofing, the creation of numerous green spaces and alignments, the redistribution of multiple bus stops in intermodality with tramway Line A, and the generalization of bicycle paths as part of the deployment of Bordeaux Métropole’s Réseau Express Vélos (ReVE).
