TERRASSE DE SAINT GERMAIN FREEWAY INSERTION A.14

The Terrasse de Saint-Germain is one of the great monuments of the Paris region, which takes on its full dimension in a balanced relationship with the surrounding landscape.

The creation of the A14 motorway, and its passage at the foot of the Terrasse de Saint Germain, meant that a new relationship had to be established between the Seine and the Terrasse through a comprehensive redevelopment of the hillside.

The aim was to create a mimicry between the motorway treatments and the old orchard strips on the hillside. In addition to the modelling measures taken, a new plant pattern reinforces the historic plot structure and the transition between the

Terrace and the Seine.
