UPDATING THE BOUCHES-DU-RHONE LANDSCAPE ATLAS
Landscapes live, evolve and transform in their natural cycles and under the impetus of human action. This ability to change makes it necessary to update a landscape atlas. This work reports on developments and identifies new challenges.
The updating work was accompanied by a cross-sectional analysis on a departmental scale. The landscape typology highlights the department’s emblematic landscapes, grouped into ten groups presented in illustrated descriptive sheets. The themes offer a reading of the department’s evolutionary trends, transcribed in eleven descriptive and prospective sheets. Updating the atlas was based on consultation with local players (elected representatives, local authorities, government departments, urban planning agencies, institutions, chambers of commerce, associations, etc.) during workshops, which provided an opportunity for sharing and exchange.
The book itself has also evolved in its formalization. The digital version enables it to be used by all users and players in the region to popularize and appropriate the landscapes of a département. Consultable at :
