ZAC PIERRES VIVES IN MONTPELLIER

The Pierres Vives sector is located in the north-western part of Montpellier, on a hillside in the eastern part of the Mosson watershed, in the immediate vicinity of the Mosson social housing district (25,000 inhabitants).

The “Pierres Vives” building (home to the Archives Départementales, the Direction Départementale du Livre et de la Lecture and Hérault Sports) and the ambitious architectural project designed by Zaha Hadid serve as a catalyst for the creation and structuring of this new district.

The study site benefits from an interesting natural landscape environment: the Rieutord stream, which flows into the Mosson to the south, and the future Parc Malbosc to the northeast. In order to link these two elements through green continuities beyond the limits of the project, a genuine green setting of quality is created in direct relation to the new developments, but also to the existing urbanization.
