COMPLEXE AQUALOISIRS FRANCIS NICOLE IN SAINT-PIERRE

The swimming pool facilities and ancillary buildings frame an open space comprising beach, pools and solarium. Large areas of planting are planned to create a veritable green setting around the outdoor facilities of the Aqualoisirs Centre, balancing the density of mineral and vegetation.

The solarium is located on the northern edge of the plot, in the form of planted steps. Alternating grassy areas and denser plantings, this design offers a relaxing space in the shade of the trees, and initiates a transition from the pool’s private spaces to the public pedestrian walkway. The steps of the solarium facilitate the integration of a significant difference in level between the pools and the central pedestrian walkway. At the edge of the plot, a stratum of large and medium-sized trees is favoured, to create visual permeability through vegetation. A border of shrubs, perennials and groundcovers with graphic textures can be found throughout the project, on the planted embankments, on the flowerbeds at the plot boundaries, and around the buildings. Local and endemic species are used to promote biodiversity and guarantee the longevity and adaptation of plants to the site’s climatic conditions.
