HOPPER AND GREENWAY – PESSAC
The arrival of the tramway in intermodality with the train necessitated the creation of a hopper to position the terminus of Line B of the tramway as close as possible to the SNCF platforms.
This urban hopper also made it possible to eliminate the physical barrier constituted by the SNCF tracks, by creating a green path (pedestrians/cycles) linking with the inhabited districts on either side.
To support this gentle vocation, the hopper was designed with a strong plant presence, with the creation of a monumental wall planted with ivy, covering 80% of the linear length of the hopper. This wall, directly associated with the greenway, faces an embankment itself planted with shrubs, significantly reducing the rough technical nature of the structure.
In detail, the green wall was designed with an innovative system of compartments including a large reserve of substrate.
This construction principle ensures the long life of the structure, with a low level of maintenance.
